With Lot of Experience India Again On Back Foot
Captain Virender Sehwag was out for a duck to an extremely poor shot off just the second ball of the chase. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar looked good to start off with but merely flattered to deceive as he clipped the ball onto his stumps when on 22. Sachin Tendulkar not in form last 4-5 ODI and he is also find his 100th cricket century but he have fail in all matches score 100 runs. Gautam Gambhir, who despite having two scores in the 90s this series while opening the batting, was dropped down to number 3 and once again looked in form before he guided a ball from Kulasekera to Thisara Perera in the gully.
Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina did stage a comeback and stitched together a 92-run partnership that was aided by some sloppy catching from the Lankans. Raina got a lucky let off when on four as Dilshan failed to hold on to a chance off Angelo Mathews. Virat Kohli had two escapes himself both courtesy Dinesh Chandimal at deep mid-wicket. First on 14 off Thisara Perera and then on 32 off Lasith Malinga.
The required run rate was however constantly creeping northwards. Raina departed for 32 after getting a leading edge off Maharoof, and when Kohli followed suit for 66 a few overs later, the writing was on the wall. Irfan Pathan threw his bat around for a quickfire 47 in an attempt at some late heroics but a win was not on the cards. The rest of the batting folded easily and India were bowled out for 238 with 29 balls to spare.
5 Ball Over In Cricket History
Lasith Malinga’s 5 ball over, which might have made a major difference in India’s tied match against Sri Lanka this Tuesday at the Adelaide Oval, Captain MS Dhoni insisted that his team did not wish to become embroiled in a controversy by lodging an official complaint.
“It's done and dusted," he said, insisting that he had no idea why the error had not been spotted. "That's what is important. We can create a big fuss out of it but what's the point? We don't really want to create a controversy."
He went on to discuss how the bowlers and even batsmen tend to lose count of the balls sometimes, in which case the third Umpire always interferes, but for some unknown reason, it did not happen in this particular match. The right-hander was unwilling to play blame games, and simply said that he hoped the mistake would not be repeated with his team, or any other.
India On Back Foot In Australia Odi
Australia overwhelmed India by 65 runs in the opening tri-series international at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The tourists were bowled out for 151 - another unimpressive batting performance - chasing 217 under Duckworth-Lewis method.
The contest was reduced to 32-over-per-side following the loss of more than three hours of play due to rain.
Clint McKay celebrates after taking the wicket of Rohit Sharma at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
India got off to a horrific start with both their openers - Sachin Tendulkar and Gautam Gambhir - back in the pavilion for just 13 runs. Mitchell Starc did the cleaning work for Australia in his first two overs.
However, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma dealt positively with the best of the Australian attack before being undone in a spectacular fashion by Clint McKay - who took two wickets in three balls. The pitch suddenly came to life, runs dried up and boundaries almost disappeared after the twin blow in the 12th over.
Australia Crush India to Clean Sweep the Series
For an India team packed with some of the best batsmen ever to have played the game, the 298-run defeat was a humiliating eighth successive overseas test loss. "I think the job we've done over the last month has been outstanding," said Australia captain Michael Clarke, named Man of the Series for his brilliant unbeaten 329 in Sydney and double century in Adelaide.
"It hasn't been easy despite the 4-0, we've had to work our backsides off. We certainly should be proud of what we've done."
Last year's 4-0 series defeat in England saw India relinquish the top spot in the world rankings but they had still arrived Down Under confident they could finally claim a first series triumph in Australia. It was not even close.
The hosts won the first test in Melbourne by 122 runs and followed that with an innings and 68-run victory in Sydney and an innings and 37-run triumph in Perth."In England we didn't bat well and here we didn't bat well," admitted stand-in captain Virender Sehwag. "Six or seven batsmen didn't score enough runs for the bowlers to win the games. "The best way out is to forget what happened and concentrate on what we will do in coming matches and coming series and practise hard and plan well and execute your plans in the game," he added.
Indian Cricket Team Out Of Form
The humiliating defeat of Indian cricket team test series against Australia on Sunday was a strong reaction from former players, called for drastic changes in the system, the removal of some older players and athletic preparation in the country.
Former captain Sunil Gavaskar matter of temperament of some older players, saying that not only skills and they need to clarify their problems and make a return.
"I think a lot of soul searching to do. We need structure first class cricket, garages, we play to watch the game programming, it must be quite a long hard look," a Gavaskar said.
"We must help the best minds of cricket to take Indian cricket forward. Their experience should be used and come in any regional policy should we need to ensure that India will in the future is not dark in the situation that we have faced in recent visits, "he said.
Gavaskar said that some players should be given a break, so they analyze their weaknesses and come back strong. "I think the jury will make some changes with it, some players who have been a bad run with a break. More capacity, they are spirited out of shape too. So they need a break, requiring them to be analyzed are false and it is fair to make a comeback, "he said.
"As cricketers, they need the shots, they played, they look like the line length and overwhelmed, have a self-evaluation, looking for answers to themselves," he said. Another former captain Sourav Ganguly said that the combination of issues, including the loss of the form players of aging and other technical problems led the debacle of the Indian team in Australia.
"There are many reasons for the disappointing performance of the Indian team in Australia. Some players are older, and they were so good for a period of time, but at 39, they are no longer young for Test cricket, "he said. "Some have been found technically and Gautam Gambhir and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Virender Sehwag was not in this series click. India must resolve quickly or they will go on the line," said Ganguly.
Ganguly refused, however, Indian Premier League for the debacle of India is to blame. Former test cricket Sanjay Manjrekar said the selectors needed to select players wisely. "Voters have players carefully, taking into account the player can choose to define the conditions that can change their game to the pace and bounce off, even if they do not have enough going strong in the domestic cricket, "he said.
"We need step by step. Dhoni batting is a concern, low trust it, and it is affecting his captain, but we should not be a draconian measure, "he said. Former cricketer Nikhil Chopra said that India has the power in Australia much to be desired and it was time for some tough decisions.
"It's a matter of great concern. It is time that we analyze what happened and take corrective action, "said Chopra.
"I think we have to produce a good sport doors in India, so our batsmen have no difficulty adapting to conditions abroad. We do Turner in India and if our batsmen to go abroad they fight. "When we get to play sports-doors, some contradictions and the teams to beat us, but it will help our batsmen in the long run," said Chopra.
